FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  Wednesday, July 11, 2018

INDIANAPOLIS– The Professional Football Athletic Trainers’ Society (PFATS), Medco Sports Medicine, Cramer Sports Medicine and the Indianapolis Colts Athletic Training Staff today donated thousands of dollars in athletic training supplies and equipment to Arsenal Technical High School and Crispus Attucks High School as part of an inaugural high school initiative.

As the official education partners of PFATS, Medco and Cramer Sports Medicine believe all athletes, regardless of level, need access to an athletic trainer.  As such, the partners are providing free supplies and equipment to high schools in four NFL communities – Indianapolis, Denver, New York City and Cleveland –impacting hundreds of youth athletes.

IMG_7779“The Colts are proud to work with these outstanding partners to help athletic trainers better serve the needs of their student-athletes,” said Dave Hammer, the Colts’ head athletic trainer.  “We hope these gifts will contribute to the development, health and safety of students at these two historic schools with excellent athletic traditions.”

“It is a great honor and privilege for PFATS to collaborate with Medco and Cramer,” says James Collins, PFATS President. “The PFATS-Medco/Cramer high school initiative was developed to support NFL community high schools in taking care of their athletes. This program gives us the opportunity to give back to our NFL community high schools and show that caring for our athletes at all levels is very important to us. We look forward to continuing this program to assist other high schools in our NFL communities.”

“Medco and Cramer Sports Medicine are delighted to partner with the Professional Football Athletic Trainers’ Society in an effort to increase awareness of youth sports safety and the impact athletic trainers have in keeping young athletes healthy,” says Mike Finke, Medco general manager. “As the leading manufacturer and distributor in sports medicine, it’s our obligation and pleasure to give back to the local NFL communities in partnership with the PFATS membership.

The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) fully supports the inaugural high school initiative. Per NATA President Tory Lindley, MA, ATC, “the high school initiative further reinforces the athletic training profession’s long-term commitment to improving safety in sport and patient care for student athletes.”
