PFATS/NATA Scholarship Series
As part of its commitment to advance the athletic training profession, PFATS allocates funding, resources and voluntary efforts toward special programs and services of its members to a variety of NATA programs and services. PFATS currently awards four $2,000 scholarships for athletic training students annually at the NATA's William E. Newell Student Trainer Awards Luncheon. The first PFATS Scholarships was established in 1983.
All collegiate student athletic trainers who are in their junior year or higher with a grade-point average of at least 3.2/4.0 and who plan on pursuing a career as a certified athletic trainer are eligible to apply for one of these $2,000 scholarships. Application forms may be found at www.nata.org and are due by February of each year.

Dean Kleinschmidt/PFATS/Gatorade Post Graduate Scholarship - Cosponsored by PFATS and Gatorade
Edward Block Post Graduate Scholarship- Sponsored by PFATS and named after the Head Athletic Trainer of the Baltimore Colts who dedicated his life to helping abused and neglected children
Larry "Stosh" Neumann Undergraduate Scholarship - Co-sponsored by Gatorade; Named in honor of the former Minnesota Vikings Assistant Athletic Trainer who battled brain cancer
Bill Tessendorf/PFATS Undergraduate Scholarship - Sponsored by PFATS; Named for the long term trainer of the Baltimore Ravens
PFATS and NFL Charities Minority Scholarships
**Female Athletic Training Students are Encouraged to apply**
Since 1993, PFATS and NFL Charities have worked together to sponsor annual scholarships for ethnic minority students. The scholarship program is open to undergraduate and graduate ethnic minority athletic training students who possess a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.5 on a four-point scale. In addition to receiving a financial grant, each student selected will have the opportunity to work at an NFL summer training camp.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, a resume and a letter of recommendation from their supervising athletic trainer by April 1 of each year to:
