A Message from PFATS President James Collins
Welcome to the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society’s Website. As President of PFATS, and Director of Football/Medical Services for the Los Angeles Chargers, with the assistance of Gatorade, it is my honor to welcome you to our website. My hope is that it will give you a view from the inside of athletic training rooms around the NFL and a better perspective of the professional life of our members.
PFATS now has over 140 members. Our members are Certified Athletic Trainers with a majority having advanced degrees and specialty certifications. PFATS has become and will continue to be diversified in its membership with an increase in females and minorities.
We will continue to work closely with the NFL Physician Society, National Football League, and National Athletic Trainers Association to improve the health and safety of our athletes through research, developing new ideas, educating our athletes, family members, coaches and others that are involved. Our mission will continue to be to serve the players of the NFL.
PFATS and the PFATS foundation will provide important information about our scholarships, internship opportunities, educational seminars and charitable involvement in our communities. Our website will be a great tool to provide resources to accomplish our ultimate goal of sharing information and educating. We are committed to providing support, encouragement and education to students, certified athletic trainers and our communities.
PFATS cares to make a difference!
