PFATS: Question & Answer

I always see players drinking Gatorade during games and practices? Why is that?

Providing fluids and monitoring our athlete's hydration levels can be more important than caring for a sprained ankle. We provide both water and sports drinks for our players, but know that sports drinks, like Gatorade, containessential carbohydrates for energy andelectrolytes such as sodium and potassium to replace what they lose in sweat. Gatorade also tastes better than water, so our players will drink more of it, staying properly hydrated and helping them to perform better.

We take the topic of hydration very seriously and provide fluids before, during and after exerciseas dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke can be deadly conditions. That's why we do our bes tat the Green Bay Packers to make sure our players have unrestricted access to Gatorade during all team activities, on the field, in our building and even when we're traveling.
