NFL Collegiate Athletic Trainer Committee

Athletic trainers of the NFL and the NCAA have created a new committee with the objective of improving the interaction and communication between the medical departments at the university and professional levels. Through the efforts of members of NFL and university athletic trainers along with NFL staff, the NFL Collegiate Athletic Trainer Committee (NCATC) was constructed. The NCATC is actively pursuing ways to improve the relationship between both groups of athletic trainers.

In an effort to assist the university curriculums, the NCATC is presently collecting NFL items to be donated to collegiate athletic training clubs, groups, or associations. These donated items are to be used as part of auctions or raffles by the athletic training clubs to raise funds.

University athletic training programs will be eligible for a free donation item by submitting the medical information to the NFL Medical Website at www.cmfprograms.org (if the NFL has requested this information from this university). The recently revamped medical website is intended to assist the efforts of both the NFL and university athletic trainers. Continual improvements are being made to the website by the NCATC.

An important objective for the NFL Collegiate Athletic Trainer Committee is to improve the exchange of ideas between these two groups. The sharing of ideas is a wonderful tool that will help with the growth of our profession. To do so, plans are being developed to promote increased participation in continuing education seminars, charity fund raisers and departmental tours. The promotion of our exciting profession will be enhanced with the improved communication between the medical specialists that take care of professional and amateur athletes.
