Practices

When it comes to practice, an ATC is always in motion. The increased number of players (53-man roster plus practice squad members) means more players to treat, tape and monitor. Longer practice days also require the preparation of a larger volume of fluids such as Gatorade, water, energy drinks, etc., for the players.

Injured players and players needing rehab will depend on ATCs the most. They require treatments before, during and after practice, sometimes even after a post-practice film study. Players are expected to work diligently through an injury and put in the extra work to get back on the field and stay healthy.

Throughout the season, ATCs monitor fluid intake at practice and make sure that players are eating correctly to ensure their weights and body compositions are staying the same. They also continually discuss with the coaching staff injured players' progress with treatments and if there's a need to alter their schedule.
